Tilden Park hiking

5 miles. 2 hours.

After a big breakfast at Saul’s Deli in Berkeley, my brother and stepdad ventured out into the drizzle for a 2 hour Tilden Park adventure. Slipping and sliding through the mud and shrugging off the cold, we hiked around Anza Lake from the Botanical Gardens and through the hills for a wet, rewarding walk.

A momentary lapse in adventure posts

I wanted to write an update to acknowledge that I’ve had a major lapse in posting adventures. These last few months have been busy! That said, there’s been no shortage of adventures, just a shortage of time to post them on this blog.

I spent the last week working in my hometown of Mendocino, CA which offers a wealth of outdoor opportunities (see photo above!) – and I realized how much I want to recommit to having adventures every single day, and posting them here.

Since starting this micro-blog in March, I’ve posted 127 adventures – about 4 per week. I’ve recorded over 90 hours adventuring, which includes running and cycling over 900 miles. That’s about 3 hours and 28 miles per week. Not too bad!

After a move to Berkeley last month, I have a whole new territory to explore. There are hills to run, the bay to windsurf, lakes to row, mountains to ride, walls and rocks to climb…and I can’t wait. This weekend will be my first free weekend in a month, and I plan to make the most of it in the great outdoors, rain or shine.

Thanks so much for reading – and let me know if you’d like to adventure in the Bay Area or beyond!

The go-to loop

STATS: 12.8 miles. 40 minutes.

I never tire of this ride. It’s my staple bike ride when I’ve got an hour or less for a ride + shower. Through a few neighborhoods, into a State Park right along the bay, with a couple of quick hills toward the end and a bike path to finish it off.

What’s your go-to loop?
